Meet Evelyn P. Evans
A Woman of Faith, Courage, and New Beginnings
Evelyn P. Evans is an author, speaker, entrepreneur, mother, and peer recovery specialist celebrating six years of sobriety. She is a Black woman whose life holds both painful chapters and meaningful accomplishments, a woman who has continued to rise with the love of her family and a faith rooted in Jesus Christ. Today, she shares her story with a purpose: to help others believe that there is still life beyond the places where they have felt buried.
From humble beginnings, Evelyn grew up with a mother who continually pointed her toward God. As the seventh of nine children, she belonged to a family whose connections would remain an important part of her life, even through seasons when finding her way home became difficult. Her mother gave her a truth that would stay with her through the years: if she ever lost her way, she could always take it to the Lord in prayer.
Those words became something Evelyn could return to. When she struggled to see a way forward, she remembered where her mother had taught her to turn. Today, she carries that wisdom into her own testimony, honoring the woman whose love helped establish the foundation of her faith.
The Love That Kept Coming for Her
Even during her lowest days, Evelyn had family members who continued to reach for her. They came to find her. They brought her home. They loved her in the midst of her sickness, holding on to their connection with the woman they knew and cherished.
Their presence remains a meaningful part of her testimony. Recovery is deeply personal, but Evelyn’s story also carries the love of people who kept showing up. Their care reminded her that she still belonged, even when her circumstances made that difficult to feel.
Today, those same loved ones continue to root for her, cheer for her, and uphold her as she moves forward. They celebrate her sobriety, her voice, and the life she is building. Their encouragement is woven into her journey, just as her mother’s prayers and wisdom remain woven into her faith.
A proud mother of three and a loving great-grandmother, Evelyn treasures the generations connected to her. Family is part of what she has lived through, what she continues to nurture, and what she carries with gratitude into this new chapter.

Her mission is to encourage men and women navigating recovery through mentorship, honest conversation, and the power of sharing their stories. Evelyn wants others to know that their past does not erase their worth and that a meaningful future is still possible.

A Life of Faith and Purpose
Evelyn is a generous, loving woman of faith who desires to use her life to encourage others. Her warmth comes with the perspective of someone who has needed compassion herself. She understands the importance of being welcomed, heard, and treated as a person whose life is worthy of care.
Her work as a peer recovery specialist is one expression of that purpose. So are her roles as a mother, a writer, a speaker, and an entrepreneur. Across each part of her life, she carries a desire to share what she has learned and offer encouragement to those taking their own steps forward.
Evelyn declares that all things are possible through Christ. For her, those words are deeply personal, connected to the prayers she has prayed, the love she has received, and the six years of sobriety she now celebrates. Her faith continues to shape how she understands her past and how she approaches her future.
She honors her mother by remembering where she taught her to turn. She honors her family by acknowledging the love that kept coming for her. And she honors her recovery by using her voice to speak openly about the possibility of a new beginning.
Evelyn’s story is still unfolding. Today, she moves forward with gratitude, courage, and a willingness to be heard. Through her book, her testimony, and the connections she makes, she offers an invitation to others: recognize the worth of your life, make room for support, and believe that there can be more to your story.
